Description

The goal of this collection is to help you get started with watercolour pencils – it’s designed for the complete beginner.

A great starting point for this collection is the beginner’s course. This is a full course which covers all the basics you’ll need to know and generally sets the foundation which helps you complete my other courses. Starting by looking at the materials you need to draw with watercolour pencils before moving onto the main techniques I use in every drawing. I then cover the full process I always use before working through that process by drawing a sweet little cupcake.

Once you’re familiar with the techniques, you can then move onto the other tutorials in this collection. From drawing a squirrel and practicing fur texture to a detailed violin, this has a huge range of subjects. All tutorials include detailed instructions, all of the real time footage, sketch outlines, the reference photo and details of all of the colours I used.

Every one of these tutorials include:

  • Really in-depth instructions
  • Plus all of the real time footage
  • Reference photos
  • Heavy sketch outlines (easier for tracing)
  • Light sketch outlines (Perfect if you want to print onto your drawing paper)
  • Details of all the materials used in each tutorial

Below are details of all the courses and tutorials included in this collection:

Realistic Drawings With Watercolor Pencils: A Beginner’s Guide

This is the 3rd full course included in this tier, where we take a look at drawing with watercolour pencils. This is a full beginner’s guide where I cover everything you need to know to draw with these pencils. From the materials you’ll need to the main techniques. After covering this, we can then use these skills to draw a fun and vibrant cupcake.

Colorful Drink with Watercolor Pencils

This drink is a really lovely starting point on learning how to build up the watercolour pencils in a series of layers. It’s reasonably simple without using too many colours, and there’s not much texture so it’s a great starting point. The glass may look complicated, but the goal is to draw what we can see and it’ll all come together.

Drawing Animals: How to Draw Realistic Fur with Watercolour Pencils

One more full course here where I cover how to use watercolour pencils to draw fur and animals. Watercolour pencils can feel a bit like a mystery, particularly when trying to add fur like details, but actually it’s simpler than you might expect. I show the materials you’ll need to create this as well as the techniques used to create fur. Finally we can put everything together to build up this sweet squirrel.

Violin with Watercolour Pencils

This is probably the trickiest drawing within this collection, but it does have some real wow factor! The initial goal is to build up some really smooth colour with real depth for the violin body, and the darker areas too. Then at the end, we can look at adding in the details. Not only smoothing out the body, but also adding in those strings which is where it all comes together.

Blueberries with Watercolour Pencils

Let’s finish off with a simpler drawing, these blueberries. Generally speaking the fruits are nice and smooth, but they also have little details on the ends. Plus I find blueberries have an almost chalky look to them that I also want to build up.
