Description
These are a little bit trickier than some of my beginner drawings and are designed for those wanting to take their drawing a little bit further.
Let’s start off with a full course on a slightly trickier technique – blending coloured pencils with solvents. This is a popular method of blending coloured pencils and I wanted to cover it in detail. The course goes through all of the materials you’ll need as well as the key techniques I use in all of my solvent drawings. I then go through the in depth process of drawing a vibrant dahlia flower.
This isn’t the only tutorial in this collection though, I’ve included all drawings that I think require a little extra skill. From adding the scale texture onto a tropical fish to the feathers of a rooster. Plus the huge number of colours on a cupcake, this is designed to take your drawing to the next level. All tutorials include detailed instructions, all of the real time footage, sketch outlines, the reference photo and details of all of the colours I used.
- Really in-depth instructions
- Plus all of the real time footage
- Reference photos
- Heavy sketch outlines (easier for tracing)
- Light sketch outlines (Perfect if you want to print onto your drawing paper)
- Details of all the materials used in each tutorial
Below are details of all the courses and tutorials included in this collection:

How to use Solvents with Coloured Pencils
This collection starts with a full course which focuses on a slightly different technique. Using solvents to blend coloured pencils is a very popular and sort after skill, which can work very well if used correctly. I cover the materials you’ll need to use solvents as well as the key techniques. After covering the process that we can use, we can go ahead and draw this bright dahlia flower.

Cupcake with Polychromos
Next up is this sweet little cupcake. This tutorial has been really popular, I think in part because it looks quite complicated and vibrant. Learn how to draw white items by drawing this textured icing and generally see why it’s so important to build up the shadows.

Tropical Fish with Polychromos
This is both a highly detailed and vibrant fish which is perfect for practicing a few different skills. There are so many scales which make up this fish in mostly a mixture of oranges, reds and blue. Adding these scales in so they don’t look scratchy can seem tricky, but we can break it down into sections.

Heart Present with Prismacolor
This heart present has some real ‘wow’ factor and I think it’s mostly down to the large bow. Not only how it’s folded, but its bright patches of shine. This drawing is a little tricky, mostly because of the details on the wrapping paper. Trying to make the word ‘love’ look accurate is a challenge, but the key is an accurate sketch and not rushing.

Rooster with Polychromos
Finally let’s finish this collection with this colourful rooster. This rooster is a drawing which heavily featured feathers. It has a mixture of fluffy, slick and large feathers, but as always the focus is on drawing what I can see.
