Description

Drawing animals with coloured pencils can seem like a very tricky process; my goal with this collection is to show you it’s maybe not as tricky as you might think!

I always think it’s easiest to start with a full course and it’s particularly appropriate on this technique – I can show you the full technique by drawing a cute little mouse. Starting off by covering all of the materials you’ll need before showing the key basic techniques. I’ll then go through the full process in detail that I use for every animal/fur drawing. We can then put that into practice by drawing the little brown mouse.

After going through the techniques, the other animal drawings will all make a lot more sense! We can cover a variety of animals, from fur to the feathers of a rooster and a fluffy little white cat. All tutorials include detailed instructions, all of the real time footage, sketch outlines, the reference photo and details of all of the colours I used.

Every one of these tutorials include:
  • Really in-depth instructions
  • Plus all of the real time footage
  • Reference photos
  • Heavy sketch outlines (easier for tracing)
  • Light sketch outlines (Perfect if you want to print onto your drawing paper)
  • Details of all the materials used in each tutorial

Below are details of all the courses and tutorials included in this collection:

Drawing Animals: How to Draw Realistic Fur with Colored Pencils

This is the perfect course to start with for this collection, it is the ideal beginners guide to drawing animals. In this course, I cover the materials you’ll need to get started with drawing animals, as well as all of the key techniques. Most importantly I’ll show you how I create my smooth, but fluffy fur texture. From there, we can use those techniques to draw this sweet, sleepy mouse.

Chick with Prismacolor

After going through the basics of drawing fur with the beginners course, let’s then use those same techniques but this time to draw a chick. Fluffy feathers use exactly the same process and fluffy fur, so this is a great opportunity to practice the technique again.

Drawing Animals: How to Draw Realistic Dogs with Colored Pencils

Here’s the second full course included in this collection, this time we can practice drawing this handsome dog. Drawing dogs can feel tricky, particularly if you’re drawing a light colour like this beige dog. One of the goals of this course is to show you it actually follows exactly the same process as simplier fur.

White Cat with Polychromos

I frequently hear of confusion on how to draw white fur with coloured pencils, and this white cat perfectly demonstrates the techniques I always use. Going through drawing this cat in simple and easy steps, will show how I approach white fur, and how you could apply the same methods to your own reference photos.

Drawing Animals: How to Draw Realistic Lion with Colored Pencils

Here’s the last full course, this time covering how to draw a fun lion. I one again cover how to draw fur, and the overall process I use with all of my animal drawings. Then we can go through the step-by-step process of drawing this lion.

Rooster with Polychromos

Finally let’s finish this collection with this colourful rooster. Once again this is a drawing heavily featuring feathers, but very different feathers to those in the chick. In fact, this rooster has a mixture of fluffy, slick and large feathers, but as always the focus is on drawing what I can see.
